"Green Built North Texas is a voluntary partnership of local home builders, industry supporters, and sponsors committed to creating awareness and interest in the construction of higher-performance, lower-impact residential homes in North Central Texas. The program has a regionally-specific green building construction protocol that Home Builder Association (HBA) members have deemed essential in order for a home to be recognized by the program. Homes built to this protocol conform to higher standards of site management and waste recycling, water efficiency, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, materials, and homeowner education. Membership in Green Built North Texas is open to both Builder and Associate members of the Home Builders Associations in North Texas. Through special events and media outreach, the program endeavors to make area homebuyers more aware of its green building program and its participants. Green Built North Texas also provides educational seminars and is supported by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Green Building Initiative.

The HBA's goal is to establish a green building program that is recognized by municipalities and consumers throughout the region. Green Built North Texas also plans to establish a higher level of green building achievement that will allow builders to advance their building product to meet both consumer desires and their own business plans."

"Mission Statement:
The mission of the Texas Residential Construction Commission is to promote quality construction for Texans by registering industry members and residential construction projects; providing information and educating homeowners and the residential construction industry; acting as a resource for complainants; and offering a neutral, technical review of alleged post-construction defects.

The Commission:
The Commission is comprised of nine members appointed by the Governor: four registered builders, three members of the general public, one engineer who practices in the area of residential construction and one either architect or inspector who practices in the area of residential construction. The Commission members serve six-year staggered terms."
NAHB
"NAHB is a Washington, D.C.-based trade association whose mission is to enhance the climate for housing and the building industry. Chief among NAHB's goals is providing and expanding opportunities for all consumers to have safe, decent and affordable housing. As the voice of America's housing industry," NAHB helps promote policies that will keep housing a national priority.

Founded in 1942, NAHB is a federation of more than 800 state and local associations. About one-third of NAHB's 235,000 members are home builders and/or remodelers. The remaining members are associates working in closely related fields within the housing industry, such as mortgage finance and building products and services.

The association is member-driven, with a professional staff of more than 300 in Washington. More than 2,800 members serve on the association's board of directors, which elects the association's Senior Officers and helps set the association's agenda.

NAHB's various groups analyze policy issues, take the industry's story to the public through the media and other outlets, monitor and work toward improving the housing finance system, analyze and forecast economic and consumer trends, and educate, train and disseminate information to members. The association also represents the industry's interests on Capitol Hill and strives to ensure that housing remains a national priority when laws are made and policies are established. NAHB also works with federal agencies on regulations affecting the housing industry in areas such as mortgage finance, codes, energy and the environment."

StrucSure
"The need for ten year structural warranties began in the 1970s when Congress suggested that builders escrow 10% of the price of a home to cover structural defects (which statistically occur about as often as major fire damage). As builder margins were not equipped to absorb that 10%, home warranty companies were conceived to bear the risk. They provide a neutral link between the homebuilder and homebuyer should a structural defect occur and offer third-party arbitration services should a disagreement arise.

StrucSure Home Warranty covers major structural failure of the load-bearing portions of new homes for 10 years from the day of closing. The guidelines for coverage have been established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and include defects such as framing members, roof trusses, floor joists and the foundation system. Limitations are set forth in the warranty booklet which is issued at closing. Our 2-10 warranty also backs builders on workmanship and materials for the first year and delivery systems (i.e. ductwork and pipes) through the second year."
